Artist's Comments

This is a sketchy redo of an older drawing of mine... Some may know which one, others may not (and it's best kept that way). It's not that great, but it's better than most of the scribbly bust shots I've been doing lately. I actually drew the torso, ohemgee.

I've been developing this guy's character a lot lately. I realized that not even I knew much about him, and I made him. :[ He still needs a name. I want it to be a classy, powerful sounding name, but everything I can think of just reeks of rich, old-fashioned supervillain cliche. Which he is, but I'd rather not tack any MORE cliches onto him.

Crits are welcome on this. I want it to be better. The column is a bit crooked, I know.

Looks like a fascinating character! I love how dignified he looks. :]

BAGATELLE. *is shot for using words as names*

keyword- "looks". :D

*blows smoke off the gun's muzzle* The name Bagatelle would make me want to give him ringlets in his hair and a slight blush on his cheeks.

Dunno why you are so discontent with him; in my humble opinion he's excellent. I especially like his clothing, looks classy and the wrinkles and folds are first rate as far as realism goes.

As for his face, if you wanted him to appear toffee-nosed, that's exactly what you managed to make him look like. If he were an existing person, he'd be the type of man I'd steer clear off, beause he is rich and incredibly erudite and exactly the type who flaunts it into everybody's face. He will be patronizing, especially when dealing with young women, and will thus be the type of man who DRIVES ME UP THE WALLS AND TRIGGERS THE URGE TO HIT HIM WITH A DUSTBIN LID. Heh. So, as you can see, he's convincing ^__^

The only thing I really have something to suggest about is his left (from the spectator's view)eye. To me it looks like a bee stung him in the lid and and it has swelled shut. His earlobe is longer than one usually expects, but one, I have seen people with extremely long ears, two, he looks like he could have descended from a Native American tribe, so he could have worn earrings in his youth that stretched his earlobes.

Yeah, that's more or less his character. Glad I've done a good job portraying that. =P

And I've fixed the eye. I noticed a bit while drawing it and forgot to fix it in the end, but a few people have pointed it out, so I've finally de-lazied and fixed it.
I intended for his earlobes to be long- just a slight detail about him. I've known quite a few old people with long earlobes, actually. I can recall hearing once that the skin on your ears never stops growing... which may explain that. It's interesting you say the Native American thing, though. While not specifically Native American, he does have a (generic) tribal-type background. I wanted it to be seen in his character, along with the other characters with the same background, but I didn't know if I'd done it well enough. Good to know. :0

Ooh, you draw old men so well <3. 8D Haha.

I love your soft pencil lines and your ability to stay patient while hatching. Mine turn out really rushed. |:

I love the pillar-thingy.
